The State Room Boston wedding photos and wedding film at Sixty State Street, captured by a State Room wedding photographer and videographer team that knows the 33rd-floor glass, the floating mezzanine and Boston Harbor light.
TL;DR
Yes, we photograph and film weddings at The State Room (33rd floor, Sixty State Street) as one Boston wedding photographer and videographer team. This guide covers the Great Room's 2,400 square feet of glass, the harbor and Custom House Tower views, and the floating mezzanine. Watch 3 real State Room wedding films below. Check your date →
The elevator opens on the 33rd floor of Sixty State Street, guests step into the Great Room, and Boston Harbor and the Custom House Tower fill 2,400 square feet of glass. That first intake of breath is what we watch for at every celebration here as a State Room Boston wedding photographer and videographer team.
To celebrate at The State Room is to host your ceremony and reception high above downtown Boston with 270-degree views of the city and harbor. We offer State Room Boston wedding photos and Boston wedding films across Boston, MA, separately or together as one studio.
The State Room is one of the downtown Boston wedding venues we know best from behind the camera. We have photographed and filmed weddings on the 33rd floor over the years (3 of those wedding films are on this page), and what we learned in that room shapes every timeline we build.
Perched on the 33rd floor of 60 State Street in Boston's Financial District—a short walk from Faneuil Hall, the Old State House, and the Rose Kennedy Greenway—The State Room is operated by Longwood Venues. Its contemporary, column-free architecture is designed to transform from a bright sky-high ceremony backdrop into a dramatic evening ballroom above the city.
The Great Room is wrapped in 2,400 square feet of floor-to-ceiling glass beneath 21-foot ceilings, offering 270-degree views of Boston Harbor and the skyline. By day the room fills with soft, even light off the water. At night the glass can start to act like a mirror if reception lights are placed poorly—so we angle our off-camera lighting to keep the Custom House Tower and harbor lights clear in your State Room Boston wedding photos and film instead of casting reflections on the windows.
Just outside the windows, the Custom House Tower anchors the skyline as the harbor shifts from afternoon blue to golden hour to a field of city lights. Those twenty minutes around sunset are when we bring couples to the glass for signature portraits.
A floating staircase drops from the upper Mezzanine directly into the Great Room. It delivers one of the most memorable grand entrances in Boston, while the Mezzanine level above gives our photographers and filmmakers an elevated gallery view over the entire dance floor from the first dance to the last song.
According to Longwood Venues, the Great Room and Mezzanine hold up to 560 guests for seated dinner and dancing and up to 900 for a cocktail reception. Alongside the main ballroom, the Harborview / Harborside salons look out across Boston Harbor and use retractable walls to tailor the layout for cocktail hour, ceremonies, or more intimate receptions.
The State Room is defined by 2,400 square feet of sky-high glass, and the light on that glass changes every half hour. A vendor visiting 60 State Street for the first time will spend part of the evening fighting window glare and figuring out elevator timing for downtown portraits. A team that has worked this room many times arrives already knowing where the skyline sits behind every table and how to light the dance floor cleanly.
It is also a venue where photography and cinema belong together. The 21-foot windows give State Room Boston wedding photos their scale, while the floating staircase and Mezzanine give the film its movement. Having one team for both means one shared lighting plan, one downtown portrait route, and a unified visual story.

Rosecliff Mansion, Newport · October 2021
In October 2021, Gina and Anthony were married at the Church of Jesus Saviour. They came to Rosecliff afterward. The day split cleanly into two rooms: one close and gold under a painted dome, the other wide open and built, a century ago, for exactly this kind of afternoon.
Gina is a behavioral analyst who works with children with autism. Anthony is a lawyer.
Before he proposed, Anthony had sent Gina a text that said the sun rises for her. He asked her at sunset, on a bridge in Boston. It is the kind of detail that explains a lot about how the rest of the day was run: unhurried, and paying attention to the light.
The morning started at the Hotel Viking and the Wayfinder, a few blocks apart in Newport. Gina's gown was a Martina Liana piece from Alexandria's Boutique, and her hair and makeup were done by Johanna Artistry and Blinked to Beauty. Her bridesmaids got ready alongside her in blush robes.
Anthony's morning ran quieter, and shorter, at the Wayfinder. He got into his tuxedo there, his bow tie straightened by the window, the watch and the ring already laid out. One of his party stood with him in the room before he left for the church at 1:30, ahead of Gina.
The Church of Jesus Saviour is close inside, red carpet down the aisle, a painted dome over the altar. Gina came down that aisle. From the back pew the church reads small and warm. From the altar it reads enormous.
They arrived at the mansion in a vintage car, the kind of white Rolls-Royce that looks like it was built for exactly this driveway. Rosecliff's facade did what it does to every couple who stands in front of it: made them look smaller and the day look larger.
Gina came down the heart-shaped staircase alone before the reception started, one hand on the rail, the room below her already going quiet. It is the single moment on the property that every bride who has stood there says she did not expect to feel the way she did.
Before the ballroom opened, cocktail hour moved outside, onto Rosecliff's lawn above the water. The sky had gone fully dark by then, the moon bright over the water, and Gina and Anthony crossed the grass together past one of the stone statues on the lawn, her train trailing behind them. The rest of the wedding party gathered under Rosecliff's lit windows before everyone moved inside.
The ballroom was set with white florals from Flowers by Ila under the chandeliers, round tables reaching back into the dark corners of the room.
At the sweetheart table, low centerpieces of blush and cream framed Gina, seen alone against one of Rosecliff's carved marble alcoves.

The Lovely Wedding Story of Jessica & John: From UMASS Amherst to Forever After
June 2nd, 2023 was not just another date on the calendar; it was the day Jessica & John, two souls deeply in love, vowed to spend the rest of their lives together. This is their enchanting story, a tale of love, family, and the journey that led them to their special day.
Jessica and John's wedding elegantly blended sophistication with a touch of beachy charm, epitomizing the dream wedding. Their pre-wedding preparations at the luxurious Wyndham Newport, in Newport, Rhode Island with its elegant decor and sunlit ambiance, set the stage for the day. The couple then moved to the picturesque Newport Beach House, in Newport, Rhode island renowned for its pristine beaches and stunning ocean views, for their heartwarming ceremony and lively reception. Both venues, with their distinctive charms, perfectly encapsulated Jessica & John's impeccable taste, making their special day an unforgettable experience in the iconic Newport settings.
Newport Beach House is a beautiful Longwood wedding venue in Rhode Island for locals and destination weddings alike. Located on one of the most famous beaches in RI, Newport Beach House is a beautiful open space that still brings the laid back beach vibes. With access to the beach, beautiful terrace options and stunning lounges, there are spaces for every type of event. If you want a beachfront event with some of the best views, don’t forget to check out Newport Beach House!
John and Jessica's tale began in the vibrant corridors of UMASS Amherst, where they both were juniors. It wasn't just another campus romance; it was a love story that grew over time. Having been together since 2015, they took the next big step and set up their cozy abode in a condo in Roslindale, MA. They also welcomed Emmett, their adorable dog, into their lives.
The stars aligned perfectly when John decided to propose. He whisked Jessica away for a weekend retreat to their favorite Cape Cod hotel. As the sun began to set, a cloudy afternoon gave way to a beautiful twilight. Just as the skies cleared, revealing a mesmerizing sunset, John got down on one knee, presenting Jessica with a question of forever.
Every wedding has its unique story, and Jessica & John's story is one of love, commitment, and a deep understanding of each other. Their wedding isn't just a celebration of their union but also a testament to the journey they've undertaken together. We, as the fortunate videographers, are thrilled to capture these moments and weave them into a timeless narrative.
Pia and Jehu embarked on a breathtaking wedding journey, and at New England Wedding Film, we were thrilled to be their chosen Boston wedding photographers and videographers. As they prepared to say "I do," their love story unfolded with a blend of tradition and personal touches, all expertly coordinated by Tanvi Rana of Mint2Be Events. The amazing design + decor was handled by Erica Jones with Oluxe Design.
Pia radiated bridal beauty while preparing in The Newbury's luxurious Bridal Suite, while Jehu got ready in style at The Westin Copley's Imperial Suite. Their ceremony, set in the enchanting ambiance of The Newbury, featured a Baraat parade on Commonwealth Ave, leading guests into the venue and up the grand staircase to the Assembly Ballroom on the second floor.Following the ceremony, we captured timeless formal pictures in The Newbury Assembly Ballroom.
Simultaneously, guests enjoyed a delightful lunch in the Garden room on the second floor. The heartfelt exchange of gifts from Pia's grandmother to Jehu, just before the official ceremony, was a touching moment captured with love. The speeches during this celebration were equally significant, with heartfelt words from loved ones, including the Mother of the Bride, and the Parents of the Groom.
Capturing the Essence: Two aspects held special significance during this wedding: the richly detailed ceremony, blending Hindu rituals, personal vows, a candlelighting ritual, and the symbolic act of jumping the broom. Our team ensured that every moment was preserved for eternity.
Additionally, Pia and Jehu's meticulously choreographed first dance, a mesmerizing 3.5-minute performance during the reception on June 3rd, was beautifully captured from multiple angles, preserving the magic of their love story.
Vendor Highlight: To keep the celebration lively, DJ Yogi provided the perfect soundtrack. As Pia and Jehu's love story unfolded, we were excited to be part of their wedding journey, capturing each precious moment.
Enjoy the captivating visuals and heartwarming stories from their Boston wedding. It was a day filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
